We were blessed to participate in the last Eurobike in Friedrichshafen. It was both extremely exciting and a bit sad. Friedrichshafen is the dream of leisure cycling.The endless bike lanes and breathtaking views make for a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
With cycling playing a major role in the future transformation of mobility - this big event is now moving back to the urban landscape and will take place in Frankfurt.
For Econic One - this was our first trip with our Econic One Pop Up van, yet not our first attendance to Eurobike.
It was our founder’s 7th trip to Eurobike and his fifth time as an exhibitor. In 2016 Galin and Alex presented the first wooden e-bike with fully integrated electric system for Eurobike Awards and this was their entry ticket as an event exhibitor.
Now 5 years later we have our Pop Up Van and a whole crew eager to mingle with the crowd and present the product.
We were delighted to meet with our partners and hear first hand their impressions of the bikes!
For every of the 4 days we made more than 100 test rides and, especially at the festival days, the team was giving bike after bike for a test ride.
The first two days are usually dedicated to the industry with tons of exciting talks and presentations for trends and innovations. These are the days for industry experts only. The days for striking deals and starting new partnerships.
Days 3 & 4 aka Festival days are the time when all bicycle fans can come over and see what the exhibitors have to offer. The highlights of a successful day at Eurobike are taking a look at the Eurobike awards and stopping by at the BMX show at lunch time when everyone is there. Last but not least, taking the spin on as many bikes as possible.
The exciting new technologies our team appreciated in the demo area were quite a few. Тhe ABS systems on speed pedelecs were a new feature that created quite an excitement in our crew. It really keeps the bike stable and connected on the road with any touch of the front break. It is quite a nice option that creates another layer of security for the rider. We also tested an automatic shifter in a cargo bike. The shifter is a nice experience, yet being in a cargo bike itself creates a lot of fun for the riders. Tandem biking requires mastery, tandem biking on an e-bike with 2 batteries is all about fun and mastery altogether. The challenge is for the front rider and the back rider’s job is to sit and relax, as the motor is giving enough power to move forward and the front rider is balancing and maneuvering. The back cyclist could assist in gaining speed as they help with the pedals.
What we found exciting is the launch of the innovative Bafang motor with automatic shifting dual-speed transmission. No doubt, it is a hub motor from a new generation. What is special about its technology is that it gives a wider torque curve without increasing the power of the motor while the intuitive auto transmission follows the tempo of the rider.
As we are big fans of security and believe that bike thieves are the worst on earth, we were impressed by the technology Penta Lock proposed. It is fairly called the unbreakable bike lock as it is mounted to the bike during manufacturing and comes with a bike alarm system as well. Using the method of reverse engineering, the company worked with a former bike thief to make sure the lock will discourage anyone who tries to steal it.
Eurobike is an experience for both the exhibitors and all the visitors. There is a unique vibe that fills in the air of the Messe. The fact that you have all possible bikes to touch and test spurs so much curiosity for those who are new and also for those who know bikes for a while. The easy going atmosphere and the BMX show in between the halls is the best combo for great mood and chill vibes. We would certainly miss Friedrichshafen, yet we are looking forward to the next big industry get-together.
